Curious links for June 2014...

1) The spring launch season isn't through: Wolsak & Wynn and Mansfield Press will be sending new titles into orbit on Sunday, June 15th at Homegrown Hamilton. Alongside the expected books, brews and Buckrider Books' tees will be readings by David James Brock, Dani Couture, Gary Barwin, David McFadden, David Lee and DD Miller.

2) A few days later, on Wednesday June 18th at 7pm, Bryan Prince Bookseller will host a reading/launch for Gary Barwin's Moon Baboon Canoe (Mansfield Press) and Ellen S. Jaffe's Skinny-Dipping with the Muse (Guernica Editions). There'll be a Q & A, refreshments; full details here

(Cannot believe I'm out of town for both of those...)

3) Given all of this Hamilton talk, local writer Krista Foss recently listed a handful of landmarks that keep the Steel City creative and inspiring for Open Book Ontario. You can read the article here and check out her debut novel Smoke River (McClelland & Stewart) here.

4) Warm memories bubble up when I think of Ottawa's biannual Small Press Book Fair, which is nestled just shy of summer and in the scenic prime of autumn. This spring's edition will be happening June 6th and 7th in room 203 of the Jack Purcell Community Centre, off Elgin Street. It'll feature over 30 exhibitors and publishers and 100s of titles for every genre. The pretty, papery particulars are over here at the (Canadian) Small Press Book Fair blog. Do not miss this!
